Growing trees is a labour-intensive and complex activity. The lining-out trees are planted with care in November/December. After this, in May/June each tree will be attached to a tonkin cane in order to obtain a straight tree.

To achieve
'good quality trees', it is important to treat the soil as good as possible.
This gives the trees good growth and keeps them healthy and strong.
Pruning is also of major importance, in both summer and winter, to give the
trees the right shape.

The tonkin canes are placed by specially developed machines which make use of a combination of oil pressure and water pressure.
