On the picture above you see the rootballing machine. This machine is provided with caterpillars. The advantage is the use of minor pressure on the soil, which is good for its structure.
The series of photos below, shows you how Combinatie Mauritz makes his wire rootball trees. The first operation is cutting the roots using a vibrating knife.

A wire basket covered by a hessian is placed on the soil. The tree will be placed in here.

The hessian is fastened around the rootball to prevent loss of soil. The hessian and wire stays fastened to the rootball when the tree will be planted again by our customer.

After this, the wire basket is put around the rootball and tightly fastened manually. The tree is now ready for transport. All chosen materials are recyclable.

In order to prevent damage during transport, the crowns of the trees are bound together.

Here you see loading of the trees in process by means of a crane which was especially developed for this purpose. This crane enables us to put the trees with slightly manual effort on the trailer.

The trailer is loaded on the asphalt ground behind our new shed. After this, the trees are transported to the countries in Europe mentioned before. The trees are planted as soon as they arrive at the place of destination. Thus a new life and future have started for each tree of Combinatie Mauritz.
